If Necessity is the mother of invention
Is Curiosity the mistress to do you in?
But that has not stopped the alley cat — they have 9 lives
Or Man 🙂

Next – the Brothers Grinn return

Thanks to kitty – no curiosity, no discoveries. Sometimes kitty died for it which is unfortunate. On the other hand, kitty might find pleasant surprise awaiting. After all kitty has nine lives, maybe can risk one or two lives…. LOL.
Oh Jasey dear – risk one or two lives just because kitty has 9?
If you recall my gangster story:
Gang leader: “Chop off one of his legs.”
Girl friend: “That’s dreadful.”
Gang Leader: “Stop whining. He has two.”
Poor kitty might not make it past the ninth life… its seems…
A cat with 10 lives – hmmm, that’s progress, I reckon 🙂
Hehe – I think kitty is hoping for even a few more lives!
For some reason, I didn’t see that ending coming in the poem. I got a nice surprise and some ideas to reflect on : ) The amazing thing is you accomplished both in a short amount of words.
Thank you Maryam,
You are always so kind and suppportive.
Peace,
Eric
My grandmother used to tell me the one about the cat with nine lives. How satisfaction brought him back. I could never figure it out, whether it was good or bad to be curious. It was a bit beyond ny comprehension as a child – and still is. You’ve stripped it to the bones of course.
Some things are best left ‘undiscovered’ – I reckon
Very true. The possibility of death will at some point be inevitable. What is your belief about afterlife, we will certainly find out by then.
That we will, Uzo – the mystery will not remain so, certainly not forever.
I guess when you ask “what does this button do?” you’ll never know until you push it.
The button —
If it’s Yellow – Hmmm
If it’s Green – Hmmm
If it’s Red – Hmm-Hmm!
If it’s on her – SLAP!
Hmm, curiosity also got the cat a restraining order, I guess. 🙂
Better to believe in nine lives, than only one I say. Much more entertaining!
Why stop at nine —-
Quite, I have many memories of past lives myself
That’s super – in that aspect you are like my Daniel in Fallen Grace
I shall take that as a compliment 🙂
poor kitty, has no thought of dire consequences, … Man though?.. he thinks,.. often long and hard, and still the attraction of dicing with death appeals. (not this human though, I be chicken !!) xPenx
The best prod to get someone to enter – a signboard that says – Do Not Enter
In a similar vein –
Silence Please;
Queue Up;
Be on time;
Dah-dah, dah-dah 🙂
It takes a brave soul to call oneself ‘chicken’, I reckon
not a brave soul, I let my emotions rule, My latest poem?… the traveller should have died, Death was waiting, ’twas Journeys End, but I lightened it.. why? Chicken methinks.. x
Okay – as you wish, PennyG – but in my books, you are a lovely soul 🙂
if only cats had past life regression therapy, they would have really benefitted and the 9th would be a flawless heaven 😀
This is a good thought, Somi, and in keeping with your blog persona – and I mean it in a nice way 🙂
The possibility of death or the possibility to snag a meal. Cats are first and foremost hunters. Great one, Eric.
That’s a great thought, Susan – predator and prey wrapped in one – an original two-in-one 🙂
What is life if left in ignorance?
Very good question – and the question, let alone the answer, eludes many, I reckon, seeing how blithely they conduct their lives.
However, we will get to that side.
With regards,
mei
Oh, yes – that we can be sure of 🙂
And in the end…dear Eve was in fact a cat, but knowlege is better than ignorance, unless of course you have no way of knowing what you’re missing…and although the cat is resilient, and so has been attributed magic…alas the myth of the nine lives has been a bane for the cat throughout the ages: in the occident priests burned them in sacks!
Yes, in the days of old, priests had a cure for most people or animals that did not fit into their straitjackets – burning or drowning – ah, ‘god’ acted in strange ways and via even stranger men.
From gods to demons…still to this day many hate cats and sometimes torture them…That is something that I just can’t understand.
You can drop a cat from a couple of storey building and it will land on it’s feet they tell me, so cats appear to be pretty much indestructible, however not so humans and I think you wanted us to think a little deeper didn’t you? LOL
Very true about cats – I have seen one drop from a tree, land on its feet and none the worse for it.
Also true – dig deeper and one might satisfy one’s curiosity 🙂
Watched “Sammy, the Cat”, now six weeks old, lose his footing and fall one-and-a-half floors. He landed on his feet, shook himself off, and went on his way. We should all be able to handle life’s little missteps so easily.
Very true – and some steps are tall and steep – and the fall, very hard. Some believe, we fall only as hard as we can endure.
Peace, Eric
if only death was reversible, we would try it more often to see what happens on the other side
Yes, death might be irreversible – but some believe life is a cycle – if so, it will come around.
Well, if it is a cycle, I hope they ask me what I want to come back as, but I haven’t decided yet though.
Curiosity opens up a lot of possibilities like gaining knowledge and exploring unexplored avenues.. but for the detectives and those in dangerous professions, dangers:)
Curious, how curiosity makes one curious – both rewarding and dangerous – yes.
Max Granky knows all about alley cats – especially skewered ones! 😀
Oh yes, Mr Granky does know all about cats and Black Roger and skewering – yes, he does 🙂
poor Kitty! Wuahaha!
I thought kitty was poor too – until I started watching My Cat from Hell
Now, I keep a goldfish – and out of kitty’s reach!
ah, and i hope we live to enjoy the moment, not to look towards the end of it.
I agree with that 🙂
you know I liked that last possibility – the rule of unexpected consequences ….
like when I tried to outsmart my dad !
I like that – the rule of unexpected consequences – 🙂
