  1. Thanks to kitty – no curiosity, no discoveries. Sometimes kitty died for it which is unfortunate. On the other hand, kitty might find pleasant surprise awaiting. After all kitty has nine lives, maybe can risk one or two lives…. LOL.

    1. Oh Jasey dear – risk one or two lives just because kitty has 9?

      If you recall my gangster story:
      Gang leader: “Chop off one of his legs.”
      Girl friend: “That’s dreadful.”
      Gang Leader: “Stop whining. He has two.”

  2. For some reason, I didn’t see that ending coming in the poem. I got a nice surprise and some ideas to reflect on : ) The amazing thing is you accomplished both in a short amount of words.

  3. My grandmother used to tell me the one about the cat with nine lives. How satisfaction brought him back. I could never figure it out, whether it was good or bad to be curious. It was a bit beyond ny comprehension as a child – and still is. You’ve stripped it to the bones of course.

  4. Very true. The possibility of death will at some point be inevitable. What is your belief about afterlife, we will certainly find out by then.

  5. poor kitty, has no thought of dire consequences, … Man though?.. he thinks,.. often long and hard, and still the attraction of dicing with death appeals. (not this human though, I be chicken !!) xPenx

    1. The best prod to get someone to enter – a signboard that says – Do Not Enter

      In a similar vein –
      Silence Please;
      Queue Up;
      Be on time;
      Dah-dah, dah-dah 🙂

      It takes a brave soul to call oneself ‘chicken’, I reckon

      1. not a brave soul, I let my emotions rule, My latest poem?… the traveller should have died, Death was waiting, ’twas Journeys End, but I lightened it.. why? Chicken methinks.. x

  6. And in the end…dear Eve was in fact a cat, but knowlege is better than ignorance, unless of course you have no way of knowing what you’re missing…and although the cat is resilient, and so has been attributed magic…alas the myth of the nine lives has been a bane for the cat throughout the ages: in the occident priests burned them in sacks!

    1. Yes, in the days of old, priests had a cure for most people or animals that did not fit into their straitjackets – burning or drowning – ah, ‘god’ acted in strange ways and via even stranger men.

      1. From gods to demons…still to this day many hate cats and sometimes torture them…That is something that I just can’t understand.

  7. You can drop a cat from a couple of storey building and it will land on it’s feet they tell me, so cats appear to be pretty much indestructible, however not so humans and I think you wanted us to think a little deeper didn’t you? LOL

    1. Very true about cats – I have seen one drop from a tree, land on its feet and none the worse for it.

      Also true – dig deeper and one might satisfy one’s curiosity 🙂

    2. Watched “Sammy,the Cat”, now six weeks old, lose his footing and fall one-and-a-half floors. He landed on his feet, shook himself off, and went on his way. We should all be able to handle life’s little missteps so easily.

      1. Very true – and some steps are tall and steep – and the fall, very hard. Some believe, we fall only as hard as we can endure.

        Peace, Eric

      1. Well, if it is a cycle, I hope they ask me what I want to come back as, but I haven’t decided yet though.

  8. Curiosity opens up a lot of possibilities like gaining knowledge and exploring unexplored avenues.. but for the detectives and those in dangerous professions, dangers:)
