  1. I think these days many are not even “looking”. I find it disturbing that many of us need to look at our device to check out the directions to a destination barely a hundred meters away, rather than look up and notice the signs around us. Or, even rarer, ask someone.

    1. Hello Ankur,
That’s true isn’t it. And they’re so busy looking down and end up walking past the destination. LOL!
      Cheers,
      Eric

  2. I’ve often thought that those times when we walked everywhere, gave us time to think and feel, compared with the rush and speed and noise and pollution of today…

    1. True, Valerie,

There was a time not too long ago when people went out for a recreation called “walks”. Quite often we did this after dinner to take in the cool clime of the evening and to round off the day.

I think we lived well back then.

      Cheers!
      Eric

      1. Your reply reminded me of how I’d forgotten the words -‘ let’s go for a walk’ – which signified happiness, healthiness and high spirits !
And de rigeuer after a large Sunday lunch!!!

  3. Too many rush about getting places to notice what’s around them on the journey.

  4. So true of humanity lately, Eric, and with all the heads down staring at cell phones, people aren’t even looking, literally. 🙂 Wishing you a great weekend ahead, my friend!

    1. Hello Lauren,

Now that’s true. And they bump into you, and continue – without even a word. LOL.

      Cheers!
      Eric

    1. Hello Rabirius,

Yes, in our daily rush to nowhere – we miss much.

  5. I am one of the culprit here. Quite often I glance and missed the important implications. I tend to accept at surface value. This is my weak area which I constantly try to check myself. Though I’m frequently lucky but there are times that I get bitten. This post is a good reflection for me.

    1. Hello Windy dearest,

Evidently, you have a positive approach to life and trust people to be good – as you are. This is not a weakness but a strength, I reckon. Bites there will be, but you have the strength to brush those off too, I am sure.

      Luv and hugz,

  6. I assume that the words “look” and ‘see’ are generic and refer to all our senses. I suggest that you, Eric, “see” a lot more than most; but agree that we all perceive through our personal filters even when we are trying to observe diligently. My problem is that I am often preoccupied and miss things which come back to haunt later on. Ugg!

    1. Hello Jane dear,

Very true – all our senses.

You spoil me with your kind words, my dear.

Actually, when writing this haiku I took it upon myself so it comes across as sharing and not preaching. But then again, I am guilty too and like you, upon reflection – I go Ugh!

      All good wishes,
      Eric

  7. You could add hear to see there also Eric. what a sad commentary on human-kind today and you are right, how often we wish we had personally focused on events happening in our life that had the potential for harm, but we neither saw or heard those warnings.

    1. Hello Ian,

Besides “hear and listen” we could also use “touch and feel”, I suppose. And you are right – many missed opportunities in our lives. But as they say, better late than never.

      Have a great weekend 🙂
      Eric
