Some recognise and learn
Others are as harried as a hamster in a flywheel
I suppose all of us are, to some extent, students and hamsters.
But, how much of a student?
How much of a hamster?

I look in the mirror and see… that there is so much yet to be seen! Bring on the possibilities 🙂
Very true, ChristyB – I’m a mirror gazer too 🙂
Very nice poem. Very well said, some recognize and learn, the worst are who make the same mistake again and again.
When we witness mankind repeating the same mistakes – one can’t help but visualize hamsters in a large flywheel that would finally lose balance and tip into the cauldron.
The creativity is in making new mistake every time.
Bingo! This is a remarkable thought – creative and true indeed 🙂
and creativity in this field is my second name.
Someone once told me that the definition of an insane person was someone who does the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Is that equivalent to making mistakes and looking in the mirror and not seeing more coming?
One of your commentators mentioned that the more we know and understand the more we realize that we don’t know. Those in ignorance are those in the questionably blissful state of thinking that they know a lot. I know that you don’t like quotes but it does bring to mind the much quoted quip; when I was eighteen I thought that my father knew nothing, when I was twenty –one I was amazed how much he had learned in three years!
Thank you for this teaser for the week.
Jane
Hello Jane dear,
I’ve actually witnessed office staff who, experiencing problems with their computers, hit the same button repeatedly – hoping to get a different result. This mindless approach is embraced by many in many other situations.
Yes, there are many subscribers to instituitional beliefs/disciplines/sciences/etc who reckon they know it all, have all the answers. What a blissful state to be in, I suppose.
LOL – yes, we’ve all had such adults in our lives — how amazingly they grow up 🙂
Peace,
Eric
OK Eric … now I have forgotten whet you said. Te reason for that is that I read, no watched my first ad on a blog (and enjoyed it). Oh yeah, I must be a hamster. 😉
I don’t quite follow what you mean, Liz 🙂
There are some who don’t even see it coming,so they don’t take heed of the warnings from others. Perhaps they are worse than those who at least knows it’s a mistake but choose to look out the window. Is harried an excuse, or pride playing up.
Some look out the window and let others resolve their mistake so they can secretly learn without admitting their own mistakes. Smart or sneeky ???
Ah, yes, Jasey dearest – haven’t we all met such people, such sneaky bosses brimming with pride – and a deep inferiority complex.
Luv and hugz,
Eric
A biblical reference says that one who doesn’t learn from his/her mistake is like a dog that goes back to sniff its excreta after excretion. An insightful poem, Eric.
That’s gross, Bro – but yes, there are similar axioms in some Asian cultures too.
Thank you and have a great week ahead,
Eric
Gosh I wish I could say student more but I think my inner hamster wins the day Ack!
Such honesty is refreshing – but it also hints that you’re ahead of most people.
All good wishes,
Eric
Or that I admit my faults cuts I know I am human, I mess up I don’t want to live in denial LOL!!!!
I can’t seem to like on your page so I am saying here I LIKE THIS POST!! 😉 xx
Strange – I had to rescue this because your comment went into my WP spam folder.
Thank you, Willow dear, but no one else seems to experience this ‘like’ problem. Looks like you’re still grappling with your WP issues.
Oh dear,
Eric
Thanks for replying Eric, yes still battling away here! I shall not give up!! 😉
as students we are all earning 🙂
As long as we’re learning – no matter what our station in life, we’re students, true.
Have a great week ahead Celestine,
Eric
You too, dear Eric.
I try each day to keep the head out of the sand always believing that it is a bad day that I don’t learn something new.
That’s a great exercise – though, I’ve met some who don’t always walk the talk.
Peace,
Eric
Sometimes my window is my mirror … love your poem, Eric 🙂
Thank you Cat, and that’s one interesting thought 🙂
All good wishes coming your way,
Eric
Very insightful. You either learn from your mistakes and move on or keep making the same ones over and over.
Perfect for a Monday!
Wow! Thank you, Susan,
‘Perfect’ you say – and here I was worried that it might be a tad too heavy for a Monday.
All good wishes for the week ahead,
Eric
P/s Careful with Orso – I read about that near accident when he had your arm pinned.
No it’s the perfect way to start the week. Learning from our mistakes.
My arm still has a big knot and bruise on it. I guess my arm was the softest thing in the mix.
first step to move forward, to learn is to admit that we don’t know enough, that there’s a lot to be learnt, the day we admit that to ourselves we start making progress
loved it Eric 🙂
The first step – what a giant leap for many, huh? If only some people take that revealing step – what a gush of humility and wisdom they’ll receive as a boon.
Thank you, Somi dearest, and wish you all the very best ahead,
Eric
Very profound thoughts there Eric.
Hello Ian,
As you probably gathered – it is somewhat tangential. Each to their own, heh?
Have a great week ahead,
Eric
Decisions and actions are usually running in a opposite directions… hmm harried sometimes we all are 🙂
If you meant, some people don’t normally walk the talk – yes, true I agree 🙂
All sensors are focussed on the outside. That’s why?
Very focussed towards the outside, yes, I believe so.
Peace,
Eric
Well said. That is so true.
Thank you, Joyce,
Simple stuff that eludes many.
Peace and blessings,
Eric
and some go through their whole lives never opening their eyes ) nice poem –
Hello Beth,
So very true – and also quick to blame all and sundry for anything that goes wrong.
All good wishes for the week ahead,
Eric
A salutary post, Eric. I like to think I am a student, but at times I am also harried. Perhaps I am a harrried student. 🙂
LOL – you’re right, Vera – I think many of us are harried students 🙂
