Great Haiku – provocative as always. Did you ever read Kipling’s “The Cat that Walked by Himself”. It that story there is little doubt that the woman is boss but the cat manipulates for his independence and in a conniving way strikes a bargain with the woman but not with the man or the dog. Chuckling, Jane
And I thought you would comment on the cats and dogs 🙂
Share a small observation with you. In the 1970s while western women were burining bras and agitating for their “rights” – I saw the Asian women in Singapore having a good laugh. They “let” their men walk in front.
As far as home and hearth is concerned, I grew up knowing my place 😀
Reminds me of that movie “Big Fat Greek Wedding.” The mother is giving pre-marriage advice to her daughter. She said, “The man is head of the home, but the woman is the neck and she turns the head!” LOL
BIG smiles here, Eric on my Friday morning 🙂
Glad to have put a smile on your face 🙂
Have a great weekend ahead Christy B,
Eric
Thanks, Eric! Happy weekend to you, as well!
Eric, do you mean the cat will be the usurper? 🙂
The cat already is 🙂
And people wonder why men drink. LOL
Okay, another excuse to have a drink 🙂

Thank you, Jane.
Obviously, “The Cat” in Kipling’s knew who the boss was he had to strike the deal with 🙂
Have a great weekend,
Eric
(You probably noticed that I don’t subscribe to Churchill’s views on prepositions)
Cats seem to lay claim over the house, but dogs actually do something to defend it. I say let them fight it out for ultimate ownership. 🙂
That’s a thought.
Personally, I prefer dogs to cats. There is a sincerity in dogs but only casual disdain in cats.
lol What a fun haiku
The trick is to let men believe they are… 😉

Truer words have rarely been spoken 😉
Jessica 😆
How we humans suffer under the lordship of a small fur ball.
Peace, Eric
This canine and feline philosophy rules my house as well! 🙂
Our homes have been invaded I tell you, and not by aliens 🙂
The boss is the cat of course lol 😉
That’s for sure – they are, and very territorial
Have a good one Gys,
Eric
felines are always the ruler of the house …. lol 🙂
have a peaceful day, Eric.
groetjes, Francina 🙂
Hello Francina,
Nice to have you back 🙂
Yes, felines are that, aren’t they.
Ciao,
Eric
Lovely Haiku, cats don’t even pretend that.
True, they take their inheritance for granted and expect all their subjects to accede to them.
lolest! my ex-boyfriend made that joke sometimes back and i think its way too true. Dogs are servants and cats are the masters….
I think your boyfriend is right – there is an underlying viciousness in cats which their “cuteness” camouflages.
You should have seen how he demonstrated. the way you have to soothe the cat, lol!
I’ll take the dog anytime and give up the position of “boss”. A carefree mind and love is more fun !!!
Way to Jasey – who needs all that aggro from being the boss 🙂
Cats may be demanding and pushy; but Dogs conquer you with their loyalty. If you have pets, they are the masters:) enjoyed the post
Very true, quite often the lives of pet owners revolve around their pets.
Interesting and catchy haiku. Also thanks for stopping by my blog.
Thank you Michelle for your return visit and comment.
Your blog was a treat for me too.
Cheers, Eric
you have a cat and a wife and you wonder who’s the boss? 🙂
Bill, you got me bursting with laughter 😆
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I really try to let my husband think he is the boss 😉
You’re welcome Sadie.
That is so gracious of you – the lengths some go to, to keep the boss happy 🙂
very cute
Yes, it does come across as such.
Reminds me of that movie “Big Fat Greek Wedding.” The mother is giving pre-marriage advice to her daughter. She said, “The man is head of the home, but the woman is the neck and she turns the head!” LOL
yes — I remember that!
LOL – yes, I recall this Ian 🙂
interesting question…afraid of the answer. lovely haiku, so true.
Thank you Megan for your visit and comment.
Afraid of the answer? 🙂
