1. Hello Chiru,

      What you say is true.

The good news: it is within human power to fix this disaster in the making. The bad news: politicians don’t have the will; big money continues to exploit short-term gain; and here is a cynical one – the people in general are too busy buried in their handheld devices.

All 3 groups need a good shake to bring them to reality. My hope lies with the third group. The first two groups will be the death of us.

      1. As long as government and the people doesn’t synchronize its difficult to bring a change…
You said it right today’s generation is in the hands of smartphones…
I just hope upcoming generation wont get worse…

  1. Does polystyrene count as plastic, horrible stuff? Whatever happened to that plastic eating bacteria discovered by the Japanese in 2016? I hope that one day the bacterium, or their morphed cousins, will be able to be eat some of the plastics clogging up our oceans. Wild thought, just as long as they don’t decide that humans or fish or whatever are tastier, then the cure would be worse than the problem.

    1. Hello Jane,

Well, if you believe in conspiracy theories, Big Money probably acquired that technology, slapped a non-disclosure rider to the sales & purchase agreement and took it off the market and the memories of most people.

I recall reading somewhere that a guy in India built a reciprocating engine that ran on water. Was that a hoax? I don’t know. But never heard of that young man again.

  2. Thought provoking wordings….we evolved from stone age to iron age which was actually constructive bt being in the age of plastic now seriousely threaten the existence of not only humans but all creatures in this planet leading to the path of destrution….As of current scenario…
Man made creation makes man mad, struggling to find a complete alternative.

    1. Hello there,

I see your last name – Ayyappa – but can’t decipher your first name. Could you honour me with your name? Thank you.

All that you say is true. Inventions and innovations are good but once the negatives outweigh the positives, we need to modify or even discard that new toy. The alternative, as in the case of plastics, sets the tone for our so called “convenience” and demise. Our children and grandchildren will pay the full price.

But then again, the avarice of the rich manipulates the powers-that-be.

      1. Hello Ashica,

What a lovely name. My eldest daughter’s name is Alicia – so close, the pronunciation.

Thank you for your warm reply.

        All good wishes,

    1. Thank you, Celestine dear,

  3. Yes, we have all become “plastic” and in time to come “virtual”. Will there be real humans anymore? I wonder.

    1. Hello Windy,

Man evolved from apes. His evolution continues, I suppose.

  4. Wikipedia. Within this work, Lucretius makes reference to the cultural and technological development of man in his use of available materials, tools and weapons through prehistory to Lucretius’ own time.
I guess he didn’t foresee the use of plastic did he Eric or for that matter how we would destroy the earth eventually with our inventions? 🙂

    1. Hello Ian,

Yes, Lucretius could see far but not into the hearts of man, I reckon.
