Does polystyrene count as plastic, horrible stuff? Whatever happened to that plastic eating bacteria discovered by the Japanese in 2016? I hope that one day the bacterium, or their morphed cousins, will be able to be eat some of the plastics clogging up our oceans. Wild thought, just as long as they don’t decide that humans or fish or whatever are tastier, then the cure would be worse than the problem.
Well, if you believe in conspiracy theories, Big Money probably acquired that technology, slapped a non-disclosure rider to the sales & purchase agreement and took it off the market and the memories of most people.
I recall reading somewhere that a guy in India built a reciprocating engine that ran on water. Was that a hoax? I don’t know. But never heard of that young man again.

All that you say is true. Inventions and innovations are good but once the negatives outweigh the positives, we need to modify or even discard that new toy. The alternative, as in the case of plastics, sets the tone for our so called “convenience” and demise. Our children and grandchildren will pay the full price.
But then again, the avarice of the rich manipulates the powers-that-be.
