People spent so much time posting their day to day mundane stuff on FB. FB is so flooded with photos that I wonder if anyone is interested to see or read. But my greatest concern is if the “bad guys” will use such info to create their scamming plots. Very much like the Apps these days, they want to have access to more and more of our personal info, when we want to install them.
Everyone is shouting louder and louder to be heard but that only adds to the noise. It is one thing to snap pictures for your personal memory files but to force it on your friends? LOL.
Reminds me of the old days – before internet and FB – when people invited you over after they returned from holidays. You know very well that you will be trapped while the husband insists on playing all the videos they took on their vacation.
Now it is worse. Your personal data is compromised.
Oh well. Trust the week has been great for you.

Like most inventions, social media is not bad per se. What use is it put to? I follow some sites that promote health, nature conservation and eco-friendly initiatives that replace bad human practises. Educational and also entertaining and helps me adopt good practises.
And as authors – we need a social media presence, as demanded by agents and publishers.

I deleted my private facebook some time ago…never regretted doing that. all the best! X
Most apropos poem there. I eschew facebook, even though most writing folk state how imperative it is to have an account there, part of the ol’ writer’s platform and all that.
I did belong–briefly–for people who were at a writing conference, but I have since deleted it. I find that most social networks are a huge drain, and eliminate the once-favored actual face to face and real bonafide conversation! Passe, I suppose.
I wonder how many true ‘friends’ people have out there…
Agents and publishers expect authors to maintain a social media presence. A tiny handful don’t need to, I suppose, as their fans put up platforms. Somewhat unrelated perhaps but I heard of one famous Indian actress who has 20,000 blogs dedicated to her by her fans.
I blog and got to know many wonderful folks whom I would not have otherwise met. Locally, yes, I would rather meet and greet face-to-face.

Good for you, and amazing isn’t it that once out—we don’t really miss it.
I’m still on FB but only to keep in touch with family all over the world, and a few good friends. Had over 500 “friends” but over the years I culled the numbers. Now down to 200 and will aim to reduce to 100 by year end.

“Click and go friendship.” Right on the button there Eric. It reminds me of that futurist Alvin Toffler’s comment in his interesting book. He refers to the future as a time of the “hurry up handshake” pulling people behind you as you hasten on to the next quick social contact. 🙂
People have become hamsters in a wheel, haven’t they? I too was once like that—difficult to swim against the current but it is doable, as I now know and am sure you do too.
