  1. Lots of rain
    , not much sun
, but millions of trees here
… hope they get on to the energy from trees, perfect solution here in the forest !!!

    1. Hello Valerie dear,
We all know well the story of the goose that laid golden eggs. Perhaps the movers, shakers and shapers of the world missed that one—they were too busy stealing the eggs.
      Peace,
      Eric

  2. We will be surprised by our ability to divide for personal gain. I am sure we will see solar credits or some such currency coming into being once it is established that solar is the future of energy for the next few generations. Any why not?

    1. Hello Ankur,
You’re probably right. Man’s greed is matched by his ingenuity to collar for himself that which belongs to all.
      Peace,

    1. Hello Indira,

Your comment cuts deep and also gave me a chuckle. Good one 🙂

  3. Excellent take on nature’s ability, Eric…I echo what Michelle and Windy said. Sigh…
With this being said…have a good weekend! 🙂

    1. Hello, dear Lauren – welcome 🙂

I agree – the two lovely ladies did touch on useful trains of thought.

      Cheers!

  4. You described nature’s solution perfectly in your haiku. Unfortunately, nature’s solution isn’t necessarily what the energy companies and politicians want.

    1. Well said, Michelle,

The large oil companies who bankroll politicians have everything sewn up – for now. But they cannot stop the ground from welling up.

      All good wishes,
      Eric

  5. I hope that using Solar Energy can help to reduce global warming so we do not have to suffer this sweltering heat and also reduction in electricity bill, after all no one pays tax to the “sun god”, so we should only be charged for the conversion of solar power to energy.

    1. Hello Windy,

Yes that will be ideal especially during the April – September months in Singapore which are very humid and burning hot.

More than 80% of people in Singapore live in apartments – Govt/HDB and private. Therefore, individual households owning solar panels is out except for those living in “landed properties”. But high rise building owners can do their part. There is an on-going pilot project where Govt/HDB are installing solar panels on roof tops of buildings.

      Cheers!
      Eric

    1. Hello Ina,

Thank you and welcome back from your holiday in Mexico.

I suppose you’ve had a good dose of sun over there 🙂

      Cheers,
      Eric

  6. Lets face it – most energy on earth originates from the sun
Dan & I have a solar voltaic on our roof – it works!
Here are two interesting asides . Solar technology advances daily bring down the cost or harvesting the sun’s energy and also introduce more and more products which can do it. It is also interesting to speculate that since the solar voltaic delivers dc and so many of today’s devices use dc we may eventually get to some dc delivery in our homes and offices. (ie don’t convert dc to ac and back to dc).
Thank you for making us think!
    Jane

    1. Hello Jane,

Always good to have you visit and comment. Thank you.

True, it is a given the sun possesses many multiple times the energy compared to all we can ever produce from burning everything on earth.

Your observations regarding DC/AC is interesting.

The good news, as you also pointed out, is solar energy is becoming increasingly cheaper and feasible.

      All good wishes,
      Eric

  7. Nature is incredible Eric. I was reading recently that the power in the cells of one large tree is enough to power a city if they can figure out how to harness that power. I suppose eventually they will find more of nature’s power sources to benefit mankind.

    1. Wow! That’s an eye-opener, Ian. I did not know that, but it makes perfect sense – power from trees.

After all, all living organisms possess energy – and energy can be converted. As you say, we just need the technology to convert – in a sustainable manner – that latent energy.

Thank you for triggering a train of thought.

      Cheers!
      Eric

    1. Good morning Sarah,

Yes, in many areas storage is the issue. We have the technology, I reckon. Political will, held back by vested interests, remains the biggest obstacle.

Have a great week ahead 🙂
