I hope that using Solar Energy can help to reduce global warming so we do not have to suffer this sweltering heat and also reduction in electricity bill, after all no one pays tax to the “sun god”, so we should only be charged for the conversion of solar power to energy.
Yes that will be ideal especially during the April – September months in Singapore which are very humid and burning hot.
More than 80% of people in Singapore live in apartments – Govt/HDB and private. Therefore, individual households owning solar panels is out except for those living in “landed properties”. But high rise building owners can do their part. There is an on-going pilot project where Govt/HDB are installing solar panels on roof tops of buildings.

Lets face it – most energy on earth originates from the sun
Dan & I have a solar voltaic on our roof – it works!
Here are two interesting asides . Solar technology advances daily bring down the cost or harvesting the sun’s energy and also introduce more and more products which can do it. It is also interesting to speculate that since the solar voltaic delivers dc and so many of today’s devices use dc we may eventually get to some dc delivery in our homes and offices. (ie don’t convert dc to ac and back to dc).

Nature is incredible Eric. I was reading recently that the power in the cells of one large tree is enough to power a city if they can figure out how to harness that power. I suppose eventually they will find more of nature’s power sources to benefit mankind.

After all, all living organisms possess energy – and energy can be converted. As you say, we just need the technology to convert – in a sustainable manner – that latent energy.
