  1. Reblogged this on Baydreamer and commented:
Inspiration is always needed, so I’m sharing this beautiful Haiku by Eric. He is the Haiku King, so please give his blog a visit if you’re not already following him. 🙂

    1. Hello, hello, hello 🙂

Life does go in circles and so good to have you back, my dear.

I’m equally to be blamed for having dropped off – perhaps more so. But no worries – let’s look forward.

Luv and hugz for my special buddy too,
      Eric
P/s I seem to have lost your subscription but have since clicked to receive your notifications again.

    1. Ah, my good friend, Lauren,

I’ve been rather busy this week but all is good. I miss reading your posts and promise to visit your blog in a day or two.

Thank you for your lovely words of encouragement.

All good wishes for the weekend,
      Eric

      1. I’m glad your busy-ness is good and just visit when you can, but don’t feel pressured. Life is more important than WP (sometimes). 😉 By the way, I love your haiku, very inspiring and hopeful. In the future, would you mind if I shared any of your haiku, crediting you, of course? Happy Friday, my friend!

      2. Thank you, Lauren,

For your understanding. Thank you also for your kind words, re my haiku.

Yes, you’re very welcome to share my haiku 🙂

All good wishes for your weekend,
        Eric

  2. This is an inspiring thought but sometimes nature, for all it’s serenity and beauty, just isn’t enough! For city dwellers it is even elusive at times. I’m being negative this morning – perhaps I need to go for a walk in the woods to clear my mind, partake in peaceful communion, and further ponder your Haiku!

    1. Dear Jane,

Yes, quite unlike you to be negative but nevertheless thank you for a welcomed and thought provoking comment.

You’re right of course. When we are tired, nature’s serenity is not enough. It’s always present but not enough to pull us out of our melancholy.

That’s where we need a friend, a word or a phrase, and most certainly a walk in the woods helps, I reckon. My daily walks and jogs in the park helps me.

It has taken some time for me to respond to your comment and I trust you’re back to your lovely positive self 🙂

      All good wishes,
      Eric
P/s: I’ll visit your blog post over the weekend.

      Much waits round the bend
Twig strewn path cleared for others
      Happy, I walk home

(Not a haiku but sometimes the simple act of doing something right, infuses one with joy.)

  3. Dear Eric,

Lovely haiku, and most apropos. How can one be alone when we are all part and parcel of the grand cosmos, each of us a speck of stardust, all existing on a tiny blue marble called Earth.

One can only leave the city, venture into a quiet lea, witness a butterfly in a field of poppies, and realize that no matter where one stands, we are always surrounded by life.

Thank you for an inspiring poem, my friend!

    Take care,
    Paul 🙂

    1. Dear Paul,

Always a pleasure to have you visit and post your well-thought and encouraging comments.

And you’re so very right; we’re always surrounded by life.

      Have a great weekend,
      Eric
P/s: I’ll be back to read your posts – love those instalments

    1. Hello Ina,

That’s the idea. Toss a pebble and see what flutters out. That’s how I learn from others 🙂

      Peace,
      Eric

  4. That’s a spooky one, Eric. Is there someone always stalking us, LOL.
    Have a great week ahead.

    1. You got me with that one, Windy,

I would never have seen it in a ‘dark’ light. That’s what I love about posting haiku formats. Occasionally, the responses are beyond my horizon.

      Thank you dear,
      Eric

      Watched, followed, and stalked
      Living things keep company
      Life in a glass bowl

The bus deposited Melanie on the dark deserted street. There had been a power outage and the neighbourhood, which her family had moved into recently, looked foreboding. Keeping her head low and eyes darting, she strode fast.

      ‘What was that?’

She heard faint voices; saw nothing; and could not tell where they came from. But the voices followed her.

‘Keep calm, don’t run.’ Melanie muttered.

She saw a shadow and froze.

      ‘Hi, Sweetie!’

      ‘Dad!”

‘Is that your cellphone?’ he asked.

      ‘What?’

She whipped out her cellphone, dropped her arms, and smiled. She had forgotten to turn off the radio channel.

    2. I enjoy reading your flash fictions. You always catch the reader with a twist at the end. We can only hold our breath till we read the outcome.

    1. Hello Ian,

A marvellous whole indeed and when one is lost, creation becomes incomplete.

See also my poem Creation Fails without You.

      Peace,
      Eric

      I live within god
      Many creatures live in me
      Parasite or god

‘You mean I am god to all the living things that live on my hair, my body, and –?’

‘No, you’re god to all the organisms that live in your body,’ he said. ‘Many of these organism live for days and even only for hours, but during that time they live a life as full as any.’

‘And when I die?’ I asked.

‘When you die and decompose which, in the time of these micro-organisms, is millions of years, the cycle completes.’

‘Does that mean that man, the universe as we know it, are all part of a greater being, a god?’ I asked.

‘Now, that’s interesting, is it not?’ he said.

When the train stopped he got off and I woke up.
