I was born into a Hindu family, spent about 30 years as a Buddhist, and became a baptised Catholic about 12 years ago, and read the Quran. All religions possess snippets of truth I reckon.
The one belief I’ve held to – since age 18 was this – we (the “I”) decide our lives. Call it fate, kismet, the stars, god’s hand, whatever – but I decided what my life will be and I am living it. The catch is – my avatar on earth is not privy to what the “I” decided. The “I” here is not one of arrogance or pomposity but the Overself.

That’s quite a wish – thank you, the accepted American response is “and you too”. It sounds a little weak but I mean it!
Health and Happiness are lovely – the Wealth isn’t essential indeed some assert that an abundance may be a curse: so I wish you “Adequate Wealth”, which doesn’t have a good ring to it but that’s what came to mind on the spur of the moment.
Enjoy every day of the year of the dog!
Freely He gives

Full of abundance.
And as we relay
From one to the next
The gifts grow heavy.

In the Asian (Oriental sense, as in my greeting card above) wealth refers to riches, as in money. You’re correct in taking it in its literal meaning. I agree, Health and Happiness are far superior to Wealth. I seek no more than “Adequate Wealth”.
Amen. I wish you both the same. And since we have a dog and have always had a dog and loved our dogs I can relate to that part as well. Our little dog, Maggie Mae, is a rescued dog we got years ago to replace our precious yellow lab that had to be put down after 10 wonderful years with him, as he had a terminal illness. She is a mixture of Australian cattle dog and Chou, and has been a wonderful therapy dog for my husband Wayne since all of his two suicide attempts last year. God is doing a miraculous healing in his life from the anxiety, etc. God’s mercies are new every morning. And that alone is an enormously happy thought and what we can begin our day with. 🙂 It is also why all my recent posts have been more along the line of Christian inspirational. So comforting to know that His hand is upon our lives, and all that touches our lives. Thanks too, Eric for all the visits and comments to my site.

I’ve been following your blogs for several years now. When you first mentioned Wayne’s struggle, I was shocked. But I took comfort in several things I know regarding you and your loved ones: the long and strong love that Wayne and you share; your solid grounding in God; and, you’re a fighter. You’ve seen much in life: laughed, cried, endured, prevailed, rejoiced and more. You’ve seen it all – and it is obvious, He has been and is your travelling companion.
Strange perhaps, but we learn so much regarding a person simply by reading their blog posts, comments, and replies.
