Challenging haiku, Eric, especially because its title is “Genesis” and not “Revelation”. 🙂 Considering all thoughts and possibilities of the hereafter, and that we are still alive and kicking on this planet, all the more reason for us to cherish and enjoy each breathing moment while on earth.
Yes! To pass into portals of infinity would indeed be a thrilling ride. Why stop at one short, simple life when many others await our earthly demise? What planes of existence are there where we can gambol and glissade with abandon in the gloaming of the Universe?
Once again an exceptional 17-syllable production, three lines of exquisite words that speak of excitement and enchantment. 🙂
Your haiku prompted one from me:
Nascency
A last breath escapes
Ascension to another realm
Endless thresholds dawn.
Thank you for an eloquent and revealing poem. They remain a pleasure to read.
Thank you for this comment – always well thought out and with obvious marks of having invested time and effort.
I believe we are on the same page re our beliefs on the afterlife. As you know, much of it seeps into my Fallen Grace series.
Appreciate your kind words about my haiku. I love your haiku too – succinct.
Warmest and best,
Eric
P/s I don’t post daily, as I used to – because, posting is easy but I also prefer to give due consideration to all who visit and give me their time. Hopefully, in a another couple of months, the pressure eases.
I really don’t think what ‘lies beyond’ is really that much of a mystery, I think we make more of it than is necessary, and that it’s as familiar as sleeping. Just my thoughts.
Peace to you Eric
Ishaiya
Wonderful haiku, Eric, always something for us to think about and I would like to hope that a new journey will begin…I’m in no hurry for the finish line, though, so we’ll just have to find out when the timing is right. 🙂 Wishing you a peaceful, happy Tuesday! xx
Who knows for sure?.. We all hold to our personal beliefs, Eric, one way or another we’ll find out for sure…… You said it perfectly, and I am a great believer in ‘do unto others’ .. xPenx. …
Starting over sounds like a second chance, but the uncertainty of what we will return as, makes it less appealing 😀 Wouldn’t it be great if we did get second chances to right all our wrongs!!!
Daniel should know by now……
Yep, it did… and so did I 😀 It’s good to be home, though…. Got a good idea of what else I want to see over there, and saw a lot of pretty country, met some really friendly ffolkes…. Found out I’m really getting too old for long plane rides in an economy coach seat… My back just isn’t up to it any more…. SIGH… Being old is getting old, for sure…. 😆

What a wonderful source for haikus. If only I could write one. ;(
Oh, my dear – if a stiff engineer such as moi can do it – anyone can do it. Try it – its not as difficult as it looks and don’t let the purists discourage you. I’ve had people criticise my limericks and typos – water on ducks back, I say 🙂
Very true, Soumya dear – who knows what dice is being shaken and waiting to roll on the other side – is Life but a chance? We’ll know for sure, soon enow.
I don’t mind sitting on clouds – but man, them white gowns and plastic wings (made in China) – they really get me. I don’t mind the ones made in Japan or Korea 😆
You know my blog (rules) – I state my views and others are welcome to state their views. It’s always refreshing to hear what others think.
The caveats – don’t criticise the views of others (inlcuding mine), don’t quote some dead guy as though that is the last word on the subject – and no quotes from any holy book!

Yes, Dee, it was a little deliberate – in the theme Cycle of Life —- you know the rest 🙂
Yes, best to make the best while on earth. That leaves open the definition of ‘best’ – that takes Faith to recognise, I reckon.
this haiku really captured my heart i am always awaiting that journey!
Me too – but all in good time and not a moment too soon, I hope 🙂

Simple and beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you, Katie – love to toss pebbles and marvel at what flutters out 🙂

I agree – for many of us, it is not a mystery.
Peace,
Eric
Enjoy your day Eric

Same here – not ready to breast the tape – just yet 🙂
I sincerely believe, a new journey awaits me and am looking forward to it – but all in good time.
Peace,
Eric

Very true, Penny G – one way or the other.
‘…do unto others…’ definitely not my words, but I can’t think of any other mantra better suited to live by.
Peace and luv,
Eric

You are very, very welcome.

Daniel should know by now……
Ah, yes, Madhu – maybe, just maybe by tagging along with Daniel – we too might catch a glimpse or two 🙂
A very nice Haiku indeed…and yes, why argue?
Why indeed, Georgia – why indeed 🙂
Then again, maybe we’ll never know…
That’s a thought and you could be right, Mikels – no one promised us answers now, did they?
Hmmm, didn’t think of that – thank you, Eric 🙂
Good one, dude…. sweet and simple…. works for me…. 😉
Thanks, Ned – looks like Europe survived the invasion 🙂
Yep, it did… and so did I 😀 It’s good to be home, though…. Got a good idea of what else I want to see over there, and saw a lot of pretty country, met some really friendly ffolkes…. yet the other sides ,we haven’t faced, dice still awaits! For many its the start of the game…
Very true, Soumya dear – who knows what dice is being shaken and waiting to roll on the other side – is Life but a chance? We’ll know for sure, soon enow.
Very nice Haiku. Let it be a surprise.
Okay – that is a nice approach too, I reckon 🙂
Peace,
Eric
P/s
I like it. You have a way with words.
Hello Barb,
Sweet as always. Thank you and do be careful on the road my dear.
Peace,
Eric
I like that. I’m not planning on sitting on a cloud for all eternity. 🙂
I don’t mind sitting on clouds – but man, them white gowns and plastic wings (made in China) – they really get me. I don’t mind the ones made in Japan or Korea 😆
I want to be able to at least Mach 5 with my wings 🙂
Thoughtful words. Certainly hope for repose though
Yes, repose would be nice – then again —– 🙂
That is so true. We can guess and believe but won’t know for sure until it happens. No point in worrying about it, you can’t change the inevitable.
Very true, Susan,
Some get there sooner and others, like Daniel – take a little longer. But we all get there 🙂

Love you for not pushing me/ us/ anybody into any certain direction … freedom is precious … freedom to believe or know or both or none …
Hello Cat,
Thank you and like everyone, I love being loved 🙂
