Yesterday 7th February, Lisa and I celebrated 31 years of married life.

I don’t want to sound smug or treat this frivolously when I say, this is unsurprising as we both went in for the long haul…no matter what. I wrote this poem for her in 2000 – it hangs on our wall.

We married on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year, 1981. Some of you already read our story > Cognac

More love poems to come as a run-up to Valentine’s Day on 14th February 2012

  1. Congratulations, this is a wonderful accomplishment, Eric. And such a sweet poem, how good that you have it hanging on the wall so you both remember what you’re working for 🙂

    1. Thank you many times over.
And you are so right…there is no happily ever after – marriage is a work-in-progress, and it is such challenging and pleasurable ‘work’.
      Cheers, Eric

  2. Beautiful and love filled tribute to your wife. The way your marriage has turned out you can most definitely say you both were born for each other.

    Congrats again, Eric!

    1. 60 years! Wow!

      Suddenly, I feel like a novice 🙂

Your parents must have definitely lived under God’s grace (whichever Faith they subscribed to)

      Thank you Ant,
      Eric 🙂

  6. Congratulations on your anniversary Eric. <3 Your poem is something very special and is a beautiful reminder of your adoration of the woman you chose so long ago. My husband and I will be celebrating 39 years together this year. I've loved him since I was 19 years old–a lifetime. I still love him. The long haul is a wonderful thing 🙂

    1. Hello there Jeannie 🙂

39 years! Since you were 19! That is a lifetime. And who says young love is not endearing…

Unfortunately, the institution of marriage is under siege and some treat it as a train station. We need to hear more love stories such as yours.

      Luv, Eric

  7. Eric, What a beautiful tribute to your wife AND to the both of you who have made life together for the first 31 years and so many more to yearn for, love for and cherish.

Congratulations on a life well-lived and loved and to the children who are witness to this love story. . .

    Blessings dear Eric!

  8. Congratulations to you and the Mrs., Eric. My wife and I will celebrate our 41st in June…time flies when you’re having fun. A very nice poem…I bet she reads it almost every day……blessings to you and those you love. – tom

    1. Wow! 41 years! What a sweet achievement – if I may use that word. Great to hear of your success story – there I go again, not at all romantic! 🙂

Thank you, Tom, for your words of blessings.
      Eric
