When angry…walk away, cool down…we all know this. The challenge is to get the message to our hearts.

When I was younger, I never could run that mile. Now, I easily cover that mile whenever challenged.

  1. Age does bring the benefits of “practice makes perfect”, right Eric? Managing anger is just so critical to be performed from the heart, not the head. I think our lines of communication get stronger, not weaker, between head and heart as we practice and practice throughout our years.

  2. It is not just walking away at the moment of fury but more difficult is the lesson to recover quickly and let it rest. Hurtful words or actions linger; indeed a pilgrimage.

No one has time for anything, let alone to sit back and think or to contemplate one’s actions and one’s thoughts and feelings. It may not be a long journey, but still it takes too much time.

  6. So often, I think, we keep “talking” when we should be quiet. We want to be heard, we want to be right, we want to have the last word. It’s a hard lesson to learn and much heartache comes from not walking that mile you write of.in your post. Thank you for the reminder.
