    1. Yes, I thought you’ll appreciate it and that’s why I pointed you here. As you probably gathered all my poems and prose are interconnected. Thank you for checking this out, Eric

  1. Know Yourself is nicely done. I like the challenge of saying something with an economy of words, the less the better. I prefer the discovery process to the self-satisfied feeling that you fully know yourself, that false complacency. I keep finding that there are a multiplicity of false selves, at times socially useful, at others causing messes which the true self is left to clean up. I also keep finding that my true self is larger than my thoughts and emotion

    1. I agree that we can say more by saying less…respect your readers’ intellect, allow them their interpretations…learn from your visitors.

Thank you for your visit and also your sharing about ‘true self’…enriching for me.

  2. Ah, the never ending journey. As Socrates said “The unexamined life is not worth living”. Needless to say the examining never ends, however some people are a little late off the mark getting started. 😉

    1. Oh, Tanveer – you shower me with your kind words.
The translations you are producing are superb and timely. I shall revisit to relish.
      Keep up the great work,
      Eric

  3. Your visit brought me here to read your thoughts…I have, as most do, debated on truth and the moment is the only truth I know. Our true self is already within each one of us, we need to weave it within the stories we tell and life we live.
Someone said the kingdom of heaven is within you.

A man who never wrote anything also said: let go of yourself to find yourself, meaning to let go of the self-story we find ourselves in and create our story as we know it could be, ..explaining the words: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.

As a being thinks so he/she is. What we believe or imagine to be becomes our truth for now. The paradigm we live in is anything but real or true.
Reason so many are confused and lost. As spiritual beings this is not home.

Is the real world something to accept as real? Do we really want a world of endless wars and famine where corruption and greed reign supreme?
In 2000 years nothing has changed because the meaning of the spoken words has been corrupted by the written interpretations…another distorted story.

    1. Hello Madeline,
Thank you for your visit and comment.
A thousand philosophers, a thousand truths.
Some would say, we each have to pick our way…and live the consequences for eternity.
      All good wishes,
      Eric

  4. I love to learn and try to love freely, yet I am unable to do so for myself. I am working on it daily, and I will know what it is like to know myself, forgive myself, and love myself.
Thank you for the wonderful reminder to do so.

  5. We fumble sometimes and miraculously find the way and an innate part of ourselves that we never knew existed.

  6. I find parts of myself in the people I meet and experiences I undertake every day. I see it as a long journey of trips we take every minute of the day.. and a pleasure to take because it adds meaning to my own life. Thanks for inspiring these thoughts in me with your post, and thanks for also liking my post.

  7. Thank you for your recent visit and liking of my son’s unexpected haiku, especially since it led me here. Good thoughts and impossible to answer. Sometimes I think knowing is like gathering tiny crystals of truth and creating a mosaic. We all picture things a bit differently, but each picture is our own. Sometimes I think that.

  8. Self discovery, like everyday life we grow and change every day thus self discovery is an ongoing process if we actually take the time to do so. At least that is my perspective. Thank you for the intriguing and inspirational post!
